root-network-mycorrhizae-microbial-inoculant
Root Network: Mycorrhizae + Microbial Inoculant

Root Network puts a full root crew into one pouch: mycorrhizal fungi, a Trichoderma, and five kinds of root bacteria. Each one does a different job down there. The mycorrhizae extend the root system's reach for water and nutrients. The Trichoderma, the same kind of fungus as in our T-22, settles on the root surface and spreads along it as the roots grow. And the Bacillus and Pseudomonas bacteria live on and around the roots and support root growth.

Using it is a watering. You stir a gram into a gallon of water and pour it into the root zone, or dust it straight onto bare roots while you repot. After that, repeat the drench once a month. Nothing to spray, and nothing that stays on the leaves.

It is sold exactly like our T-22, by the gallons of drench each pouch makes, one gram to the gallon. The difference is what's inside. T-22 is one fungus on its own. Root Network carries a Trichoderma too, and adds the mycorrhizae and the root bacteria alongside it.

It isn't a fertilizer and it isn't plant food. The only non-living ingredient is dextrose, a simple sugar the organisms travel on. It is the living part of a healthy root zone, added at the moments that zone is starting from scratch and topped up once a month after that.

Best for: Repotting and potting up, when the roots are exposed and the mix is fresh, then a monthly drench into the root zone during a normal watering.
How much: One gram per gallon of water. Sizes are sold by the gallons of drench they make, from 5 gallons (5 grams) to 250 gallons (250 grams).
Arrives as: A light olive-green powder in a sealed pouch with a desiccant.
Storage: Sealed, cool and dry, out of direct sunlight. The powder pulls moisture from the air, so reseal the pouch after every use and leave the desiccant in. Sealed and stored that way, it keeps for 18 months.
How you'll know: There's nothing to see on the surface. It all happens in the root zone, and you judge it at the roots.
Not for: Feeding a plant, or insects and fungus gnats. And don't drench it together with a fungicide: the mycorrhizae and the Trichoderma in it are fungi too.

Field Notes

Root Network

Mycorrhizae + microbial inoculant

What's in it

Mycorrhizae

Glomus intraradices, an arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus. 600 propagules per gram, minimum

Beneficial fungus

Trichoderma harzianum. 1.5 × 108 CFU per gram, minimum

Root bacteria

Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, B. subtilis, B. licheniformis, B. megaterium and Pseudomonas putida. 5.0 × 108 CFU per gram, minimum, combined

Carrier

Dextrose monohydrate.
