Amblyseius swirskii in Bottles
Description
Swirskii mites are generalist predatory mites that effectively target small arthropod pests such as thrips, whiteflies, and various spider mites. These tiny beige or tan mites, measuring about 0.5mm in length, have short legs and an oval body with long sensory hairs. Due to their high mobility and short reproductive cycle, they are a powerful choice for managing active infestations.
Females lay eggs near pest populations, and within 2-3 days, the eggs hatch into larvae. The larvae actively hunt pest eggs and small larvae for 1-3 days, before progressing through two nymphal stages to become adult predatory mites. Once matured, they continue to feed on pests, making Swirskii an ideal option for treating active pest issues.
Why Choose Bottles?
- Target Pests: Larval stage of Thrips, Whitefly Eggs & Larvae, Broad Mites, Russet Mites, Cyclamen Mites, and more.
- Fast Action: Adult mites in bottles are ready to suppress pests immediately by feeding on eggs, nymphs, and larvae.
- Scalable: Suitable for both small, targeted applications and large-scale infestations in greenhouses, gardens, and agricultural areas.
How They Work:
- Swirskii mites are shipped with paper strips and honey as a food source.
- Once released, adult mites will actively hunt pest larvae and eggs.
- Adult mites consume pests at all stages, with larvae resembling tiny, fuzzy alligators feeding on pest eggs, nymphs, and adults.
- Swirskii mites are effective in temperatures between 68–96°F, but cannot survive sub-freezing conditions.
How to Decide How Many You Need:
- Light Application: Release 5–10 adult mites per sq. ft., depending on pest severity.
- Heavy Application: Release 25,000 or more mites for widespread infestations.
- Agriculture: Use 25,000 or more mites per acre for large-scale pest control.
Pro Tips for Success:
- Monitor Infestations: Introduce mites early for the best results in active pest populations.
- Use in Combination: Pair with slow-release sachets for preventative coverage and long-term pest suppression.
- Avoid Pesticides: Ensure no pesticide residues are present before releasing mites, as these can harm beneficial predators.
