Amblyseius swirskii in Slow-Release Sachets

Your First Line of Defense—For When Pests Are Just Starting to Whisper

If you’re seeing just a few thrips or whiteflies—or none yet, but you know they’re coming—Swirskii sachets are your best preventative move.

Each slow-release sachet contains a live mix of 1/3 eggs, 1/3 larvae, and 1/3 adults, so you get an ongoing flow of predators over 2–4 weeks. The adults start hunting immediately; the younger stages pick up the slack as they mature. The result: consistent, quiet control before things ever get out of hand.

Swirskii mites are barely visible—around 0.5mm, tan, and fast-moving. You might catch one darting across a leaf if you have great lighting and excellent eyesight. But whether you see them or not, they’re working.

Targets:

  • Thrips (especially larvae)

  • Whiteflies (eggs and nymphs)

  • Spider mites (low pressure only)

Important:

These sachets are for prevention and very light infestations only.
If you’ve got an active problem—visible pest damage, webbing, or large populations—start with Swirskii bottles. Those are packed with adults that act fast.

Why Sachets?

  • Set it and forget it. Hang them near plants—done.

  • Prevention made easy. Perfect for keeping pest populations in check.

  • No mixing, no spraying. Just clean, steady release over 2–4 weeks.

  • Works best in 68–96°F with moderate to high humidity.

How to Use

  • Hang 1 sachet per 100 sq. ft. for general protection.

  • For mild pest presence, use 1 sachet per plant.

  • Replace sachets every 2–4 weeks, depending on pest pressure and conditions.

  • Avoid overhead watering for a day or two after deployment.

Safe For... Everything but the Pests

Swirskii mites are 100% safe for humans, animals, and plants.
They don’t bite. They don’t sting. They don’t do anything except eat the bad bugs.

Pro Tips for Best Results:

  • Start early—don’t wait until pests have taken hold.

  • Pair with Amblyseius cucumeris or Orius insidiosus for a broader pest defense strategy.

  • Avoid using pesticides before or after release—residues can harm your beneficial mites.

All the webs came back shortly after. The ice packs were room temp when I rcvd them. Don't know if that matters. It's been cool and rainy since I hung them

Hi Gabrielle! It sounds like what you really needed were the treatment products—the bottles—rather than the sachets, and possibly in a larger quantity than you purchased. Sachets are great for prevention and catching the occasional spider mite that wanders in, but they’re not designed to handle an active infestation. That’s exactly why we offer bottles filled with adult mites, ready to go to work right away.

If you did purchase both (it’s hard to tell since your review is on the sachets), then the issue may have been more extensive than the products could cover. Feel free to reach out if you’d like help identifying the best product and quantity for your situation—we’re happy to guide you.

I do not see any damage to my plants and I have 2 more weeks before I remove the sachets. Fingers crossed my little friend have done there jobs!

This is amazing news! I'm confident that they'll keep all your prized plants safe. :) Your plants are so lucky to have you.

Didn't help

Did nothing for my small thrips investigation, which had now heavily invested a plant

Oh now! Sounds like you may have gotten the wrong product. The sachets really are for prevention, while the bottles are for treatment. Inside the sachets are eggs, larvae and adults and are designed to hatch and grow up over a 30 day period, offering a steady of predators which attack anything that comes along. Conversely, the bottles have 100% very hungry adults (treatment). Reach out, and maybe we can help you with the bottles. (Info@fgmnnursery.com)
