Amblyseius swirskii Prevention Sachets

Targets: Thrips (eggs & larvae), Whiteflies, Broad Mites, Russet Mites

For Prevention, Not Knockdown

If you’re seeing pests, it’s already too late for sachets alone. But if you want to stay ahead of thrips, whiteflies, and microscopic mites, Amblyseius swirskii is your best preventive tool.

Swirskii feed on:

  • Thrips eggs and larvae (Frankliniella occidentalis, etc.)

  • Whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci, Trialeurodes vaporariorum)

  • Broad mites (Polyphagotarsonemus latus)

  • Russet and other tarsonemid mites

Each sachet contains all life stages of swirskii—eggs, juveniles, and adults—along with a food source that helps sustain the mite population during the 2–4 week release window. Mites exit gradually and begin hunting immediately.

Not for Infestations

Sachets are designed for slow, continuous release. If you’re dealing with a visible outbreak, use bottles for fast knockdown—or combine both for layered coverage.

Choose Your Brand

Both versions contain the same number of sachets and mites:

  • Tip Top Bio Control – U.S.-made and field-tested (and our go to). Consistent release under standard grow tent, nursery, and greenhouse conditions. A solid, reliable choice for indoor growers and collectors.

  • Koppert – The Plus formulation is optimized for more consistent mite emergence, especially in dry or unstable environments. Often favored in commercial setups.

How to Use

  • Hang 1 sachet per plant, or every 2–3 feet in dense canopy

  • Do not open—mites exit through a micro-perforated vent

  • Replace every 2–4 weeks, depending on pest pressure and climate

Best Conditions

  • Temperature: 77–85°F is ideal (68°F minimum for activity)

  • Humidity: 60–80% relative humidity preferred

  • Lighting: Effective under both natural and artificial light

Pro Tips

  • Use a supplemental food source (like Good Bug Diet) if releasing into clean or sterile environments

  • Pair with bottles for dual action: immediate knockdown + long-term coverage

  • Avoid misting directly onto sachets—hang them above the moisture line

  • Don’t expect to see them. Swirskii are fast-moving and often nocturnal

Safe for Everything but the Pests

  • Non-toxic

  • Pollinator- and pet-safe

  • No re-entry intervals or cleanup required

  • Compatible with most integrated pest management programs

Shipping & Storage

  • Ships 2-day

  • Use immediately on arrival

  • If needed, store up to 48 hours at 50°F (do not refrigerate near food or in dry air)

These mites have been a great success for our greenhouses

These mites have been a great success for our greenhouses. Almost no problems with pests since I've introduced these guys. I haven't had to use any pesticides of any kind at all.

All the webs came back shortly after. The ice packs were room temp when I rcvd them. Don't know if that matters. It's been cool and rainy since I hung them

Hi Gabrielle! It sounds like what you really needed were the treatment products—the bottles—rather than the sachets, and possibly in a larger quantity than you purchased. Sachets are great for prevention and catching the occasional spider mite that wanders in, but they’re not designed to handle an active infestation. That’s exactly why we offer bottles filled with adult mites, ready to go to work right away.

If you did purchase both (it’s hard to tell since your review is on the sachets), then the issue may have been more extensive than the products could cover. Feel free to reach out if you’d like help identifying the best product and quantity for your situation—we’re happy to guide you.

Amblyseius swirskii

I do not see any damage to my plants and I have 2 more weeks before I remove the sachets. Fingers crossed my little friend have done there jobs!

This is amazing news! I'm confident that they'll keep all your prized plants safe. :) Your plants are so lucky to have you.

Didn't help

Did nothing for my small thrips investigation, which had now heavily invested a plant

Oh now! Sounds like you may have gotten the wrong product. The sachets really are for prevention, while the bottles are for treatment. Inside the sachets are eggs, larvae and adults and are designed to hatch and grow up over a 30 day period, offering a steady of predators which attack anything that comes along. Conversely, the bottles have 100% very hungry adults (treatment). Reach out, and maybe we can help you with the bottles. (Info@fgmnnursery.com)
