Aphidius colemani
One Wasp. Dozens of Aphids. Over and Over Again.
If you’ve got small-bodied aphids showing up on your crops, Aphidius colemani doesn’t mess around. These tiny parasitoid wasps lay their eggs directly inside aphids—starting a self-sustaining cycle that ends in one less pest and one more wasp.
Each bottle contains live adult A. colemani, ready to hunt as soon as you release them. Females search for aphid colonies, inject their eggs, and move on. Within a few days, the parasitized aphid swells into a telltale “mummy,” from which the next generation emerges. Left to run, they’ll spread through a population quickly—and quietly.
Targets:
-
Cotton aphids
-
Green peach aphids
-
Black bean aphids
-
Lettuce aphids
-
Melon aphids
-
Apple aphids
-
Over 40 small-bodied aphid species
(Note: Not ideal for large-bodied aphids—combine with Aphidoletes aphidimyza or ladybugs for broader coverage.)
Why Bottles?
-
Immediate control. Adults are ready to parasitize right away
-
Self-replicating system. Each female lays ~100 eggs during her 2-week lifespan
-
Precise and passive. No disruption, no residue, no stress to your plants
-
Great in greenhouses, gardens, and open fields
How They Work
-
Females inject eggs directly into aphids
-
Eggs hatch in 3–5 days, feeding inside the aphid
-
Mummified aphids form in 5–10 days
-
Adults emerge to repeat the cycle
-
Visible suppression usually begins within 7–10 days
How Much to Use
-
Standard use: 1–5 wasps per 10 sq. ft., weekly for 2–3 weeks
-
Larger spaces or higher pressure: Scale up based on crop size and infestation level
-
Combine with other beneficials for full-spectrum aphid control
Pro Tips
-
Release early. Parasitoids work best before aphid populations explode
-
No pesticides. Even "safe" sprays can wipe them out
-
Use with Aphidoletes or ladybugs to handle mixed aphid sizes and life stages
-
Release in the early morning or evening for gentler conditions
Shipping & Storage
-
Ships overnight for live delivery
-
Release immediately upon arrival
-
If needed, store at 39–46°F for up to 48 hours
