Syngonium podophyllum ‘Red Spot Tricolor’ Variegated

Three pigments. One plant. Zero chill.

Syngonium podophyllum ‘Red Spot Tricolor’ is what happens when chlorophyll takes a backseat and lets the anthocyanins and unpigmented cells do the talking. A mutation of Syngonium podophyllum, this cultivar develops distinct color zoning in soft blush pink, creamy white, and solid to speckled green. It looks like someone designed it on purpose — and somehow made it fast-growing and beginner-friendly too.

The pink coloration comes from anthocyanins, while the white zones are hypopigmented (lacking chlorophyll). The result? Each leaf is unique, and some are genuinely breathtaking. Bright, indirect light will bring out the strongest contrast — but the plant itself is surprisingly tolerant and adaptable.

This is a vining aroid that can climb or trail, making it suitable for hanging baskets, moss poles, or tabletop displays. Despite its visual complexity, it's one of the easier variegated houseplants to grow — and one of the faster ones to size up.

All plants ship fully rooted in aroid potting mix, and we offer three formats:

  • Exact Plant Shown – 4" Pot
The specific plant pictured. Already rooted, stable, and actively growing in a 4” nursery pot.

  • Grower’s Choice – 4" Pot
A well-established, rooted plant from the same genetic line in a 4” pot. All show clear tricolor variegation, though color distribution will vary from leaf to leaf.

  • Grower’s Choice – 2.5" Pot
A smaller rooted plant from the same genetic line. Expect strong tricolor variegation and healthy roots, but fewer leaves or younger growth. Great for budget-conscious collectors or those who like to grow from small.

All grower’s choice plants are hand-selected and meet our internal quality threshold. No duds, no "color will come in later" disclaimers.

Shipping Note:
All plants ship rooted in soil and are packed with care. Due to the delicate nature of variegated foliage, minor leaf curl, yellowing, or edge bruising may occur during transit. These are cosmetic and do not affect plant health. Soil may shift during shipping and can be gently resettled. We do not ship unrooted cuttings — all plants are healthy, pest-free, and stable at time of shipping.
