Sharp structure. High contrast. Compact royalty.

Philodendron ‘White Princess’ is a self-heading hybrid best known for its clean, upright growth habit and sharply defined white variegation across deep green, semi-gloss leaves. The foliage emerges paddle-shaped and symmetrical, often with marbled sectors, streaked petioles, or full half-moon splits depending on how the chimeric mutation expresses.

The variegation is caused by periclinal chimerism, where genetically distinct cell layers in the apical meristem divide unevenly. The result: unpredictable but repeatable patterns of chlorophyll-suppressed tissue, often influenced by light intensity and pruning practices. This isn't a splashy, unstable variegate—White Princess tends to hold its form and pattern well under consistent conditions.

As a self-heading plant, it does not vine. Leaves emerge from a central point in a neat, upright spiral, making this a perfect choice for growers looking for architectural foliage that stays manageable in size.

Philodendron ‘White Princess’ Care Overview

Requirement Details

Humidity 60–80%. Higher humidity supports larger leaves and cleaner white zones.
Watering Allow the top 1–2” of soil to dry between waterings. Avoid soggy roots.
Substrate Well-draining aroid mix with peat, perlite, bark, and pumice.
Temperature 65–85°F. Protect from sudden dips or drafts.
Feeding Fertilize monthly with a balanced or low-nitrogen formula.
Growth Habit Self-heading. Compact, upright, and well-behaved.
Pests to Watch Thrips and spider mites. Clean leaves regularly, especially variegated zones.

Shipping Note:
All White Princess plants ship rooted in soil and are packed with care. Due to the pale variegation, some cosmetic wear in transit is possible, such as edge bruising or slight fading on older leaves. These are normal and have no effect on root health or future variegation. Each plant is shipped clean, stable, and ready to thrive.
