Thrips are difficult to control because they live in three different zones of your grow. Our bundle covers them all:

  • Amblyseius swirskii (Foliage Patrol): Targets the eggs and early larvae on leaves. This prevents the next generation from ever maturing.
  • Orius insidiosus (The Pirate Bug): Targets active adults and nymphs. These are the "heavy hitters" that consume the mature pests that mites are too small to handle.
  • SF Nematodes (Soil Sanitation): Targets the pupae and larvae in the soil. Thrips drop into the dirt to pupate before returning as flying adults; the nematodes kill them in this crucial "hiding" phase.
Environmental Needs

To maximize the effectiveness of the Total Control system, maintain a stable environment:

  • Temperature: 65F to 85F is the "sweet spot" where all three agents are at peak activity.
  • Humidity: 60% to 75% RH. This is critical—the SF Nematodes will dry out and die if the soil is kept bone-dry.
  • Light: Mites and Orius are active in all light cycles. Nematodes prefer the dark, moist environment of the soil.

Choosing the right IPM strategy depends on the intensity of your infestation. While our other bundles are designed for specific "edge cases" (extreme speed or runaway populations), Thrips Total Control is our balanced, systemic solution.

It is the industry-standard protocol for restoring order to an infested garden by addressing the pest at every stage of its life cycle—on the foliage, in the flowers, and deep in the soil.

How it compares to our other bundles:

  • Vs. Thrips Rapid Response: Choose Rapid Response if you need to "stop the bleeding" immediately by focusing exclusively on the canopy (adults and eggs). Choose Total Control if you want a complete, systemic treatment that sanitizes the soil and protects the foliage. Total Control is more sustainable and thorough; Rapid Response is faster but temporary.
  • Vs. Thrips Ultimate Control: Choose Ultimate Control if your infestation is "runaway"—meaning you have heavy, visible damage and high populations that have outpaced your current defenses. Choose Total Control if your pest pressure is moderate and you need a reliable, high-density system to bring the population back under control without needing the aggressive, high-density predator species required for a crisis.
How to Use

Deployment is simple and efficient. All three agents can be released on the same day:

  1. Release the Mites (Swirskii): Distribute these onto the foliage in the upper canopy.
  2. Release the Orius: Gently tap the bottle contents onto the plants, ideally near infested flowers or buds where adult thrips congregate.
  3. Drench the Nematodes: Mix the nematodes with water and apply as a soil drench.
  4. Timing: There is no waiting period required between the foliage predators and the soil nematodes.
How They're Shipped
  • Release IMMEDIATELY: Swirskii have a very high metabolism and will begin to starve if left in the bottle. Release them the same day they arrive.
  • Storage: If you must wait, keep the bottle horizontal in a cool, dark place (55F to 60F). Do not refrigerate.
  • The "Invisible Army" Note: These mites are pear-shaped and nearly microscopic (0.5mm). They are tan to pale-orange and move very quickly.

We guarantee that your beneficial insects will arrive healthy and ready to work. Because we are shipping live organisms, we use packaging and expedited shipping to ensure their safety. Do these predators eat each other?

No. Swirskii and Orius occupy different niches and have different prey preferences. They will focus their energy on the thrips, not each other.
Can I use this if I already have sticky traps up?

Yes! In fact, Thrips Total Control works best when paired with Horiver Blue Sticky Traps. The traps help you monitor the success of the bundle as the adult pest population on the traps begins to decline.
Is this safe for my plants?

100%. These are naturally occurring biological controls. They do not feed on plant tissue, do not damage roots, and leave zero residue on your harvest.
When should I re-apply?

For a total reset, we recommend a follow-up release of Swirskii every 4 weeks to maintain the standing army. The Orius and Nematodes can be re-applied every 6 to 8 weeks depending on your pest pressure.
Can I use chemical sprays, Neem oil, or essential oils with this bundle?

No. Chemical pesticides, soaps, and oils are non-selective—they will kill your predatory mites and Orius just as quickly as they kill the thrips. If you have been using chemical sprays, you must wait at least 7 to 10 days after your last application before releasing the Thrips Total Control bundle. Always ensure your plants are "clean" of toxic residues before introducing your beneficials.
How soon will I see results?

Unlike chemical sprays that provide an instant "knockdown," biological control is a system that works over time. You will likely see a stabilization of the population within the first week, and a noticeable reduction in pest activity within 2 to 3 weeks. Patience is key—you are establishing a living army that will continue to hunt for you long after a spray would have evaporated.

I don’t see anything moving in my bottle or sachet. Does that mean they’re dead?

Not at all! In fact, go ahead and deploy them.

Predatory mites are microscopic (often less than 0.5mm) and naturally blend into their carrier medium (bran or vermiculite).

  • For Bottles: The mites often huddle in the center of the bottle for insulation during transit.
  • For Sachets: These are "slow-release" nurseries. The mites stay tucked deep inside the breeding media and emerge one by one over 2–4 weeks. Seeing an "empty-looking" sachet or bottle is not proof of a loss; it is simply how they are packaged for maximum survival.
