Root rot is a symptom, not an organism

Mushy brown roots, a sour smell, leaves yellowing while the soil is still wet. Several pathogens cause that picture, and they all take hold the same way: in a root zone that stays saturated, short on oxygen and empty of competition. Fix the drainage first. Nothing here replaces it.
